OVERVIEW

Light Filled Spaces and Connection to the Rear Yard a must for Clients Lifestyle Needs

The client brief for this home was simply “existing home is too dark, I want a light home, I want to connect to my rear yard”.

This sprawling home sits on 2800m2 of land, however, with a kink halfway down the lot, narrowing the lot from 32-23m wide, and an existing pool to be retained, there were a couple of challenges to create a home for this family.

A healthy budget allowed for creativity in the layout with ‘wings’ connected through one main thoroughfare.

This allowed for north light to penetrate into each of the wings and into the main hallway. A parent’s wing, kid’s wing and a family wing are spread out along 30m plus of home.

Smart Design Balances Generous and Luxurious Spaces with the Practicality a Family Needs

Large bedrooms, living spaces, guest quarters, rumpus in kids wing and loads of storage provide for a luxurious family home.

The laundry was a major focus to provide for this growing family. Loads of storage and bench space with direct connection to the rear courtyard.

The kitchen is well appointed with integrated fridges, ovens and dishwasher, again storage everywhere.

Natural Materials Utilised to Blend the Home into its Natural Surroundings

The striking façade elements continue throughout the home with the use of lightweight, grey ironbark cladding, expressed jointed, render and brickwork. The natural ambience is created by the striking stonework and ply ceilings in the main living spaces. Butt-join glass, clerestory windows, customised joinery are all part of the interior styling.

The courtyards outside the main wings are landscaped using indigenous plants and grey ironbark decking to seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor spaces.

The use of commercial glazed windows and doors enhance this home with angled glazing, high doors, large picture windows etc.
