Light Filled Spaces and Connection to the Rear Yard a must for Clients Lifestyle Needs

The client brief for this home was simply “existing home is too dark, I want a light home, I want to connect to my rear yard”.

This sprawling home sits on 2800m2 of land, however, with a kink halfway down the lot, narrowing the lot from 32-23m wide, and an existing pool to be retained, there were a couple of challenges to create a home for this family.

A healthy budget allowed for creativity in the layout with ‘wings’ connected through one main thoroughfare. This allowed for north light to penetrate into each of the wings and into the main hallway. A parent’s wing, kid’s wing and a family wing are spread out along 30m plus of home.

The family, kitchen and dining open up to an alfresco and games room perfect for entertaining children and adults alike; and all have direct sightlines to the pool and beyond to the rear yard.
