This dedication was recently recognised at the 2024 HIA Victorian Housing Awards, where our recently completed Black Rock project won the coveted Custom Built Home ($2.5 million to $3 million) category. The highly competitive category represents some of the most ambitious and meticulously crafted homes in the state. This award is a testament to the innovative design and construction excellence that underpin our work.

We recently sat down with the proud owners of Black Rock, Gerald and Jennifer, to discuss collaborating with Latitude 37’s in-house design and build team to create their award-winning luxury custom home in Melbourne’s southeast.

"We chose to build with Latitude 37 because we couldn’t find an existing home that met all our needs. The striking Beaumaris display home demonstrated the company’s high-end home-building capability and inspired us to explore the possibility of creating a home that reflected our lifestyle” said the couple.

Every feature of the home was thoughtfully designed in close collaboration with the family to reflect their unique needs and lifestyle. The couple’s dream home embodies cutting-edge modern design, featuring a sleek monochrome palette, thoughtfully chosen materials, and an eye-catching curved exterior – one of the compelling features of the HIA award submission.

Inside, warm timber tones are complemented by striking black steel and natural stone, creating a balanced, refined atmosphere. The expansive central hallway, bathed in natural light from a skylight, runs through the home offering a sense of continuity and enhancing the feeling of openness across all three levels.

Open-plan his-and-hers walk-in robes balance functionality and luxury, while the feature wine cellar provides a stylish yet practical home for the couple’s extensive collection. Multiple living areas seamlessly connect to the large alfresco and lap pool, enhancing the home’s entertaining capability. The man cave, complete with a state-of-the-art golf simulator, offers a space for recreation and relaxation.

Technology is seamlessly integrated throughout the home, enhancing both convenience and efficiency. Smart home wiring simplifies daily life, with automated lighting and blinds set to custom settings to manage the large home effortlessly. Solar panels paired with battery storage ensure low power bills and provide peace of mind with reliable, continuous power.

The judges of the 2024 HIA Victorian Housing Awards commended Black Rock for its luxurious inclusions, sleek finishes, state-of-the-art amenities, and outstanding tradesmanship, making the home a standout among an impressive field of contenders.

When Gerald and Jennifer first stepped into their new home they were overwhelmed with a sense of awe, expressing their appreciation for how perfectly the home reflected their lifestyle and vision.

"It exceeded our expectations! We finally have the home we always dreamed of," they shared.
